
Maciej Zieba
Maciej Zięba, OP, is one of the foremost interpreters of the thought of Pope John Paul II, a topic he covered in his book The Surprising Pope. Trained as a physicist, he became active in the Polish Solidarity movement in 1980 and edited an underground newspaper. He was ordained a priest in 1987 and later served as provincial superior for the Dominicans of Poland. A founder of the Tertio Millennio Institute, which is dedicated to deepening the dialogue on Catholic social doctrine, he has served as director of the European Solidarity Centre. Father Zięba earned his doctorate from the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow.
