Wholly Sanctified was first published in 1890. A.B. Simpson preached these sermons then printed these shortly thereafter. As A. B. Simpson hoped the people would quickly endear themselves to the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit. Simpson desired to see his congregations to follow full Godhead including the Holy Spirit and search and seek the full indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the sanctifying process within their lives.
