The publication of Vitally Alive meets the longstanding need of Christians and other believers for a God-centered perspective of the human personality. Like a seed which lies dormant before germinating, the teachings of Jesus concerning our human personalities have lain dormant within the spirituality He taught. Finally they are hopefully germinating and growing. This book traces the teachings of Jesus about how our human personalities unfold (blossom) or fail to unfold (remain budded) into the maturely loving beings God calls us to be. By trusting God at the center of our personalities, they unfold stage by stage into stunning blossoms which perfume the lives of others with love. By fearing and trusting ourselves, instead, the petals of our personalities fail to unfold and imprison us in a self-centered, budded state. The dynamics which flow from these two states of our personalities are spelled out in some detail for your consideration. This book, it is hoped, will open the door to further study and usher in a new era in our understanding of the human personality.
