myWorld Social Studies Grade 6 Homeschool Bundle

Centered around "MyStory" video narratives, this 6th Grade "myWorld Social Studies" curriculum provides an integrated program that will connect social studies with literary instruction.

Student Workbook chapters are divided into individual lessons with reading skills and media /technology/graph skills taught throughout. In Grade 6, overarching chapters cover the basics social studies, the Civil War, the Cold War, World War II, and immigration. Chapters begin with a "spark" question that asks children to apply their understanding of the main concept; a song; connection to "myStory" video; and vocabulary preview. Lessons provide a brief instruction in a large-print font that's perfect for beginning readers; important words are highlighted. Reading skill exercises are integrated into the lesson and "Got It?" summary questions provide an opportunity for application and assessment.

The myStory video download gives students the opportunity to see kids their own age talking about the Big Question and key ideas of each chapter, and concludes with a question about how the material affects their own life. Video "field trips" and animated graphic novel elements are also included to help children personally connect to the lesson.

The Teacher Resource Library download provides parents with everything needed to easily teach this curriculum. Arranged by the table of contents, each chapter's resources include a teacher's guide with lesson plan summaries; a podcast for the chapter's subject; editable tests for each chapter and separate answer keys; hands-on activities; and a leveled reading lesson plan support.
