myPerspectives English Language Arts Homeschool Bundle, Grade 7

myPerspectives curriculum is a secular, student-centered English Language Arts curriculum designed for grades 6-12. Interactive media and online resources are provided alongside a consumable, write-in student text. Designed for public schools, this teacher-led course has modalities for whole-group, small-group, and independent learning.

The chosen literature selections are from across time periods and cultures, and include both classical and contemporary, fiction and non-fiction texts. Units feature an open-ended "Essential Question" that's posed to stimulate thoughtful student inquiry into a topic. The "Launch Text," unit opener video, and discussion board engage students by provoking and generating additional interest in the unit topic. Unit goals link back to performance-based assessments. Students use close-reading strategies (Notice, Annotate, Connect, Respond) to read a text thoughtfully, apply strategies as they read, and critically examine the text. Language is developed through vocabulary words taught in context as well as "make meaning" sections that analyze the author's craft and structure. "Effective Expression" activities give students opportunities to share their learning through written and oral projects.

Unit-Level assessments include a variety of tasks including activities, selection tests, unit tests, and performance-based assessments where students show they can perform a task independently. There's also a beginning, mid, and end-of-year test.

The teacher's guide features reduced-size student pages with teacher information in the surrounding margins; answers, samples, discussion ideas, lessons, a pacing plan (36 days for each of the 5 units), and other extensive classroom helps are included.

The Savvas Realize Digital Path includes a digital/interactive student edition and teacher's edition. Online resources such as interactive lessons, grammar tutorials, graphic organizers and rubrics, trade book lesson plans and other elements. The online access is easy-to-use with resources organized by type (i.e. "Teacher's Edition," "Student Edition," "Unit Resources," "Assessments," "Video Library" etc.).
