Meanwhile, in our time, Damaris McFarland, a widowed theologist specialized in John’s writings, receives a cryptic letter from an old friend, urging her to go to Ukraine and examine an old manuscript that might hold the key to unravel the secrets in the book of Revelations. But on her way to Kiev, war breaks out and Damaris is trapped in the crosshairs of a sinister plot to free the Antichrist and take over the world.
 
As Damaris and her friend Jack fight for their lives in a crazed world, they encounter a cast of characters that includes Russian soldiers, Chechen rebels, Iranian militants, and clandestine Christian activists, each with their own agendas and motivations.
