This lesson plan book features an easy-to-follow grid-box format, with a box for each subject each day of each week. Within each subject-box, assignments are given, with checkboxes next to each one. 34 weeks in total are covered, along with a 9-week phonics review for the summer.

This guide also includes discussion questions for each subject and a recommended sample weekly schedule with a blank schedule for you to complete. The Appendix includes a 9-week phonics review lesson plan, an opening & closing prayer, letter activities for phonics review, first grade recitations with answers, memory verse/The Story Bible reference chart, book lists (read-alouds, history/culture/science, poetry, music/art), supplemental phonics activities, suggestions for studying spelling words, and spelling worksheets with room to practice writing words.
