The First Form Greek Student Workbook from Memoria Press has approximately 6 pages of exercises per lesson (as given in the sold-separately textbook). Exercises help students master concepts through practicing skills in a logical progression spread over four days. Students will complete charts, translate, recite, conjugate, and more. A final review, blank drill forms for practice, and two-page weekly reviews of vocabulary, and later, grammar, are also included.
280 pages, softcover. Consumable and non-reproducible. Grades 8-12.
After finishing First Form Greek, the student will have mastered:
The six indicative active tenses of the omega verb Present tense of the to be verb Two noun declensions First & second declension adjectives Personal & demonstrative pronouns Approximately 130 vocabulary words
Based upon the same format as First Form Latin, First Form Greek is similarly helpful for parents teaching without a background in the Greek language! The goal of this program is to present grammar so logically and so systematically that anyone can learn it. First Form Greek differs from First Form Latin in that it adds weekly vocabulary reviews, more frequent recitation, and an expanded dictionary for Greek verbs in order to offset for the challenges of learning a new alphabet, less regularity within the language, and more variation within paradigms.
It is recommended that students take at least two years of Latin grammar (ideally First Form Latin and Second Form Latin) and the Greek Alphabet Book before taking this course. However, students who are new to Greek may spend additional time in Lesson 1 and learn the Greek alphabet that way. Students who have completed these prerequisites (Second Form Latin and the Greek Alphabet Book) may begin First Form Greek as early as 6th grade; it is otherwise recommended for students in grades 8 & up.
