Through the betrayal of her family, Anne finds herself married to an older, odious man. She is forced to move to England and finds she must not only live in a harsh and unloving marriage, but has been brought to raise his three daughters. Finding herself at odds with God in her trials, she is befriended by an elderly woman who assists her on the journey. This novel, set in the Victorian Era, examines a woman's heart. Anne travels through feelings of anger, loneliness, bitterness and despondency. She asks the question that many women ask; "Why God?" The author wrote Dearest Catherine after a traumatic experience in her life. The path that she walked over the course of several years has been written through her character Anne. Dr. Annette Perkins has been married for over thirty years to her husband Ron. They have two sons and four grandchildren. She lived near the Mohawk Valley in upstate New York before moving to Michigan, where she currently resides. I have known Annette for over four years. If there is one thing I can say is that she has a heart after God. She is a strong Christian and a true believer. You can see that she has a close walk with the Lord by the love she shows her family and friends. The message in her book shows how she really believes in God's power to intervene in our daily struggles and trials of this life. In her story she also shows us that God is a loving, compassionate and forgiving God. I hope you enjoy reading her book as much as I did. Sally Gomez, children's author of Too Many Freckle
