Close to Mommy's Heart

Did you know that a baby's heartbeat can be detected 18 to 21 days after conception? Did you know that God says in Jeremiah 1:5 that "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you.?" I didn't know those things when I had my abortions. I believed the Lie-that until a baby takes its first breath, it isn't a child. Close to Mommy's Heart will teach children that life begins at the moment of conception. It is also written for us post-abortive mothers and others who share the pain of abortion. God has made a way for us. Mary Cromwell-Hillenburg served for more than 11 years at the Life Pregnancy Care Center in Concord, NC, as a board member, client services director, and finally as executive director for approximately seven years. As a post-abortive woman herself, she has been able to share a message of hope and healing to thousands of women and teenagers throughout the years. Her poems, articles and stories (both serious and humorous) have been published in magazines and local newspapers, and most recently in Mature Living Magazine. She often speaks at local churches, community functions, and pro-life rallies, and she counsels women who are suffering from the aftermath of abortion. She has four children and eight grandchildren and lives in North Carolina.
