The Cambridge KJV Family Chronicle Bible has been carefully designed and produced with a clear purpose in mind, to endure. All styles have been robustly crafted using a range of fine materials deliberately chosen for their strength and durability to allow the Bible to withstand generations of use within a family home.

Paul Gustave Louis Christophe Doré (1832-1883) was a well-known French artist. He was a painter, a sculptor, a skilled violinist and also an experienced mountaineer, yet his primary work was wood-engraving. He created 221 illustrations of the Old and New Testaments, all of which are included here. No other artist has created so many illustrations for a Bible, nor attracted such a broad audience for this type of work.

Doré's classic illustrations are here combined with the classic text of the King James Authorized Version which, along with the works of Shakespeare, is regarded as one of the foundations of modern English. The text is presented in a large clear font echoing that used by the famous typographer John Baskerville. The typesetters have sought to produce a page layout that is elegant and easy to read both publicly and privately, and the large print is suitable both for younger and older readers.
