In Historical Theology In-Depth, David Beale explores fundamental principles and key developments in theology – from first-century Rome to the twentieth century. He examines major church councils, first-hand accounts of church fathers, ancient and modern creeds, Reformation events, and the development of American Christian churches and universities, taking students of the Bible and of history on a guided tour of doctrines, movements, and heresies that have influenced Christianity through the ages.

In Volume 2, readers will journey from the Protestant Reformation to the Christianity of modern America. They will study the writings of Reformers such as Luther, Zwingli, and Calvin; distinguish between Arminianism and Calvinism; learn the characteristics of American theological movements with reference to key theological figures in each period; and discover historical views on specific doctrines and societal issues.
