But the arts contain an added dimension as well, an opportunity to respond in praise of God's works, whether by music, poem, picture, or appreciation of such works by others. The elements of art are the building blocks of composition. They include line, shape, texture, color, form, and value. The principles of design guide how the elements are to be used. They include unity, focal point, variety, contrast, balance, movement, rhythm, pattern, proportion, and perspective.Because the child of God desires to see the glory of his Maker in creation, the lessons also place a strong emphasis on observation.
