Doing for God (and everyone else) sometimes leaves us with no energy to be for God; we may even feel guilty for taking time to pray. But to be of use to God in the world, it is necessary from time to time to withdraw from that world, and seek refreshment. In Beyond the Quiet Time, theologian Alister McGrath encourages harried believers to move beyond their hurried quiet times to a place where they can be spiritually renewed. The five studies contained within this small book help readers make their way toward that refreshment. They show how to quiet the heart and allow God's Word and Spirit to move. They can be used by individuals or a study group to renew fundamental beliefs and fervent faith. Withdrawing from the world, we need to bring only our imaginations, our intellects, and our beings to a place where we can be alone with the Lord.
