Marriage from God's Mouth

Showing the seriousness and the permanence of marriage God says: "I hate divorce…. I hate the violent dismembering of the 'one flesh' of marriage," Ecll. 2:16]. Counsellors reckon that less than 25 per cent of marriages today are truly happy. The question is: What does it take to be one of them? The honest answer is: Thinking about marriage in God's terms, not in selfish terms. It is important to remember that every marriage is made of two flawed people, Rom. 3:23]. Expecting perfection is na ve and will keep undermining your relationship. Happiness in marriage depends on coming to terms with your mutual defects and dealing with them realistically. Therefore, work out your marriage with fear and trembling, depending entirely on God's enabling grace and His unfailing love.
