Macy Hays is depressed and alone. At age fifteen, it seems her life is over. In the two years since her father left, she has lied about her age and worked to support four younger siblings. They're hungry and a hair's breadth from being homeless. Thus begins Macy's solitary journey on the mean streets of Dallas where she's expected to act like an adult one minute and a child the next.
