The nine books at the end of the New Testament address issues facing the early church. Hebrews was written to encourage Jewish Christians to persevere in challenging times. James gives forceful instructions in what the Christian life should look like. In his first letter, Peter talks about living the Christian life in the face of suffering. Peter's second letter, 2 and 3 John, and Jude all warn against false teachers. 1 John reassures readers that their faith is true and shows what it means to live in the light and love of God. Revelation, a largely symbolic book, says that God is able to triumph over evil. Although each of the nearly 150 readings in the commentary is short, the content is rich with careful explanation, devotional warmth, and practical relevance.
