George Caird died prematurely at the age of 66 in 1984, but left behind him a respected body of work and the affection of his students. WRIGHT is Bishop of Durham, England, and author of more than thirty books, including The Last Word and The Meaning of Jesus, with Marcus Borg. He taught New Testament studies for twenty years at Cambridge, McGill, and Oxford universities. L.D. HURST is Associate Professor of Religious Studies at the University of California at Davis, and was the editor of George Caird's New Testament Theology.
