In Historical Theology In-Depth, David Beale explores fundamental principles and key developments in theology – from first-century Rome to the twentieth century. He examines major church councils, first-hand accounts of church fathers, ancient and modern creeds, Reformation events, and the development of American Christian churches and universities, taking students of the Bible and of history on a guided tour of doctrines, movements, and heresies that have influenced Christianity through the ages.

In Volume 1, readers will journey from the late first century to the early Reformation era. They will study the Greek apologists, the theological traditions of Alexandria and Carthage, the battlefields of the Ecumenical Councils, and the writings of Irenaeus, Tertullian, Augustine, and many others.
