Retaining the same instruction and scope & sequence as the 2003 Edition, this 2011 Edition has an updated copyright, new cover, and some updated interior photographs.

The teacher's guide provides lesson helps, including skill-focus boxes; lesson instructions with activities; notes on practicing skills with the student book and applying them to reading; notes for different learners, including ELL, auditory, visual, kinesthetic, challenge, and extra support/intervention options; cross-curricular connections; pointers to CD-ROM activities; student page numbers; and a guided reading lesson. Reduced, full-color student pages are included within the lesson and have the correct answers overlaid. Student blackline master reproducibles are also included.
