The Allworth family is in the throes of a minor crisis. The slightly pessimistic dad, Ernest, fears he will be laid off. His wife Shirley, an eternal optimist and meticulous organizer, is directing the children's Christmas pageant, which also includes their three children - Meghan (11), Elizabeth (6) and Anna (13 months). The family's effort to recreate the birth of the Savior is a turning point in their family crisis.
